Hood close in on another title
Robin Hood moved within a single point of wrapping up the Commercial League A Division after recording a comfortable 3-0 win over closest rivals Key West Rangers last weekend.
Hood now just require one point from their last three matches to claim an unprecedented fourth consecutive title.
After leading 1-0 at the half through Alan Mooney's 42nd minute strike, veteran striker Craig Smith and Simon Turner extended Hood's lead in the second half to put the match well beyond Rangers' reach.
Cable & Wireless had no answer to third-placed MR Onions as the latter cruised to a convincing 4-1 win.
Keith Donald netted twice and Richard Helme and Raul Coen scored one apiece while Treadwell Walker notched C&W's consolation goal.
At White Hill Field, North Village Rams' Maceo Dill scored with only four minutes remaining to give his team a 1-1 draw against Lobster Pot.
Pot appeared destined for maximum points after Troy Berkeley had given them the lead moments before the half, but Dill had other ideas.
Tuff Dogs strayed off their leash to record a whopping 8-0 victory over relegated PHC Raiders.
Dogs' Jason Floyd notched a hat-trick while Devantay Darrell, Dennis Musson Jr, Kevin Mooney, Jeff Franklin and Stephen Pitt all found the target.
The match between Vasco Mariners and BAA Wanderers was postponed.
In the B Division, St. George's All-Stars had their title drive put on hold after they were held to a 1-1 stalemate by visiting Devonshire All-Stars.
William (Apples) Richardson gave the east enders a tenth minute lead before Devonshire's Jeff Richardson responded with an equaliser moments before the final whistle.
Second-placed Prison Officers continued to narrow the gap between themselves and St. George's when they were awarded maximum points after opponents Valley forfeited the match. Officers remain five points adrift of the leaders.
Prospect/Fire doused Dockyard Falcons 4-0 and Devonshire Lions showed Wolves Pack just who is king of the jungle after they roared past their opponents 3-1.
Two goals by Chris Pitcher and a sole strike from David (Bungy) Brunson were more then enough to see off Wolves' challenge. Gary Peniston scored a late consolation for the Pack.
Somerset Extros outscored Pest Control 5-3 in an entertaining fixture at Shelly Bay. Ronue Cann scored two of his team's goals while Shawn Roberts, Mike Corday and Wallace Wellman also hit the net. Pest Control replied through Jamie Matthews (two) and Anthony Francis.
