Cup Match heads towards a draw
Cup Match seemed destined for a draw as St. George's gave Somerset a taste of the punishment the West Enders had handed out on Thursday.
St. George's amassed 398 runs before being bowled out with veteran batsmen Clay Smith and captain Charlie Marshall both grabbing centuries.
Smith scored 124 while Marshall's 134 must have been especially sweet after seeing his colts record of 100 not out passed by Somerset's Saleem Mukkudem on Thursday as the West Enders piled up 483-7 declared.
Marshall joined Smith to steady the innings after colt Delyone Borden was out to a spectacular catch by 2002 Cup Match MVP Janeiro Tucker off Dwayne Leverock.
On Thursday, Somerset piled up the second highest single inninings total in Cup Match history off St. George's vaunted bowling attack before declaring late in the day.
South African Mukkudem's 106 not out was the highlight of Thursday. Spin bowler Hasan Durham racked up 52 runs alongside Mukkedem before the declaration.
Tucker scored an impressive 90 while colt and opening bat Jermaine Postlethwaite scored 84. Other scorers were:
Sheridan (Baldy) Ming 18
Albert Steede (capt) 39
Wendell White 42
Kwame Tucker 2
Dwayne Leverock 1
Corey Hill 4
