Doubling of fleet announced for BermudAir

The island’s flagship airline carrier has announced the arrival on Bermuda of its third aircraft ‒ with a fourth said to follow next month.

BermudAir said its new aircraft, Niel Jones, had been named in memory of the top corporate lawyer who lost his life to an accident on the water in 2023.

The jet touched down on Saturday at LF Wade International Airport, in a development hailed by the company, which launched in 2023, as a “significant step forward” for its service to the island.

A statement described Mr Jones as “a great friend, proud Bermudian and pivotal figure in the establishment of BermudAir”.

BermudAir added that it expected to receive its fourth aircraft next month.

Adam Scott, the carrier’s founder and chief executive, said BermudAir was “very proud to be doubling our fleet size to enhance our operational capabilities”, also giving it “dedicated spare aircraft always on standby”.

Mr Scott added that the additions would mitigate operational challenges, but also boost the carrier’s numbers of flights and add “flexibility in our flight scheduling”.

The announcement comes just ahead of new direct connections for BermudAir.

The company has flights to Providence, Rhode Island, Richmond, Virginia, and Montreal, Quebec, taking off this month and in June.
