Appleby welcomes eight new summer interns
Appleby Bermuda has welcomed six legal interns to its revamped summer internship programme.
Two interns have also joined Appleby Global Services, the law firm’s corporate and fiduciary service provider.
This year’s Appleby interns are Ashley Attride-Stirling, Thomas Evans, Kyla Lowe, Owen Neal, Seon Tatem and Juron Tucker. The AGS students are Zuri Harrison and Yasmine Tull.
Three interns who took part in the programme last year have also returned: Max Blakeney, Jasmin Brown and Louis Hammond. They will take part in a special project within the corporate and insurance teams.
Appleby’s summer internship programme for students interested in a career in law includes departmental rotation every two weeks with an assigned lawyer to act as a mentor, and the inclusion of case studies, assignments and presentations.
The programme – overhauled last year – was designed to foster a collaborative learning experience, with interns rotating in pairs, providing an opportunity to learn from mentors and peers.
Appleby managing partner Brad Adderley said his firm has helped to nurture many of Bermuda’s talented lawyers over the years.
“Now the programme is even more dynamic, rigorous, and engaging than ever – complete with a special mock trial introduced last year to put skills to the test,” he said. “Thanks to our skilled lawyers serving as mentors, students can look forward to an unforgettable summer of growth.”
Patrick Lee Mo Lin, AGS associate director, operations, said providing opportunities for young professionals is something his firm considers both a privilege and a responsibility.
“Our hope is that this experience will give our summer students a fresh perspective on how critical each role is, not only to our clients but to Bermuda's standing as a respected international business centre,” he said.
He added: “We look forward to their contributions over the summer and are confident that the skills and insights they acquire with us will serve them well wherever their careers lead."
The eight-week internship is from June 18 to August 15.
Appleby will host a summer law student event on Wednesday.
