‘Someone out there knows’: murder appeal continues
Police continue to appeal for the public’s assistance in their investigation of the murder of Jason Mello on Bandroom Lane, Pembroke in 2016.
Mr Mello, 25, was shot multiple times at about 7.35pm on August 19 by a suspect dressed in heavy dark-coloured winter clothing and wearing a full-face visor helmet.
A police spokesman said the suspect’s attire “would have stood out on a warm August evening”.
The gunman is believed to have parked a motorcycle on Bandroom Lane, approached Mr Mello, opened fire and then fled by motorcycle through the area of St Monica’s Road.
The spokesman said anyone with information, “no matter how small or insignificant it may seem”, could come forward to assist and remain anonymous.
Detective Inspector Dean Martin, who can be reached at 717-2074, said: “There is someone out there who knows the person responsible for Jason Mello’s death.
“With the assistance of the public, we have been able to solve many serious crimes, or receive vital information that has advanced historical investigations.
“We urge you to come forward. Even small pieces of information can lead to justice. Please, help us bring closure to Jason’s loved ones.”
The community can also contact the serious crime unit on 247-1739, speak with a familiar police officer, call the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477 or submit a tip online at www.crimestoppers.bm.
