Contractors sought to bring new life for North Arm
The Bermuda Land Management Corporation has launched a search for contractors to help improve Dockyard’s North Arm.
A request for tender, published in The Royal Gazette, called for qualified contractors to submit bids for the excursion dock extension project at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
“The scope of work includes but is not limited to the demolition of existing infrastructure and the construction of a new precast concrete dock on steel pile foundations,” the notice said.
The notice stated that tender documents can be obtained at the BLMC office in the Clocktower Building between 8.30am and 4pm, or by e-mailing the BLMC facilities department at rfp@blmc.bm.
All submissions must be received by 3pm on September 23 and must include a detailed cost breakdown.
A planning application submitted this year proposed work to extend the excursion dock at King’s Wharf to “better meet the needs of the cruise industry”, noting that transportation out of Dockyard had been identified as a “major obstacle”.
“The excursion dock extension will provide safe and convenient berthing for the Spirit of St George tender vessel, delivering cruise passengers to multiple destinations across the island,” the application said.
“Furthermore, the inside of the North Arm is experiencing accelerated deterioration.
“The extension of the excursion dock will incorporate stabilisation of the North Arm, work that would need to occur regardless of the functional improvements.”
