Police issue Hallowe’en safety warning ahead of celebrations
Police encouraged those celebrating Hallowe’en tonight to act with safety and responsibility.
Superintendent Arthur Glasford, the officer in charge of the Tactical Operations Division, told guardians to make sure their children could be easily spotted as it would be a time of heavy foot traffic.
Mr Glasford recommended bright costumes, reflective material and flashlights as they “go a long way in keeping everyone safe”.
He added: “Young children should always be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Older children heading out in groups should be supervised by a trusted adult or responsible older sibling.
“Let’s work together to keep the celebrations incident-free.”
Mr Glasford also reminded people to be “respectful and courteous”, telling the public: “Hallowe'en is a time for fun — not antisocial behaviour.”
He said that antisocial behaviour, including vandalism, would not be tolerated, and that officers would be maintaining full visibility across the island.
Mr Glasford asked the public to report anything suspicious or concerning by dialling 211 for non-emergencies and 911 for emergencies.
He said: “Your vigilance helps in making Bermuda safer. We appreciate the continued support from our community and wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Hallowe'en.”
