The Bermuda Paediatric Centre has added physiotherapy services, after moving to 3 Gorham Road in Hamilton.

The firm will now provide assessment and treatment for cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders and spina bifida, among other conditions.

Therapeutic goals often include improving posture, mobility, muscle tone, co-ordination and overall function, using modalities such as neurodevelopmental therapy, sensory integration strategies, gait training and therapeutic play.

Prospective patients are encouraged to visit the new location on the third floor of the Pearman Building and meet the team: Richard Fulton, Sylvanus Nawab and nurse Bernadette Wilson.

The firm said it provides a comprehensive range of services in one convenient location, designed to meet the healthcare needs of children and families including primary, preventive, urgent, neonatal and acute care.

Additionally, the centre will offer educational workshops covering topics such as parenting classes, child development seminars and first aid and cardio pulmonary resuscitation training for parents and caregivers.

The centre will continue to engage overseas partners developed over 40 years, such as Boston Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Toronto Sick Kids Hospital and Nemours Children’s Hospital, among other tertiary paediatric centres.
