Crunch for Town and Zebras
Dandy Town midfielder Jared Peniston believes his side's match against PHC tomorrow at Devonshire Rec. will have a major bearing on how both teams fare for the remainder of the season as they each battle for the title.
Town currently lead PHC by two points and the win would see them move temporarily into first place by one point above North Village, who also play tomorrow evening in the second match of the night.
For Peniston, it is a crucial game in the season, with Zebras having two games in hand and his side knowing that they must get something from the match in order to stay in contention.
Judging from past encounters between the two sides, the clash could throw up its fair share of excitement and controversy.
Town held a comfortable 2-0 lead over Zebras in their Dudley Eve group match before PHC rallied back to win the game 4-3, while having a man down.
"This season playing against PHC has been exciting," said Peniston. "Both teams are undefeated so Town and PHC will be coming to play.
"It will just come down to who wants it the most and who makes less mistakes.
"It's no pressure on us because we have been in this position before but regardless of whoever wins or loses the match, this will be a turning point.
"This game could make or break a team's spirit although it is still early in the season.
The Bermuda international admitted that PHC would have a distinct advantage should they win the match considering their games in hand.
The game could be seen as a crunch clash as neither side want to lose any further ground in the chase for the title, nor spoil their unbeaten records.
"They have two games in hand so PHC will come to play and try win the game and take advantage of their position," added Peniston.
"Like I said it will come down on who wants it the most. The league is the trophy teams want so this game is very important.
"All we need to do is show up and play, if we win we go on top, that's something to think about and play for.
"Consistency is the key to the league."
Dandy Town and PHC will precede North Village's clash with St. David's, with kick-off set for 7 and 9 pm respectively.
