PHC striker Antwan Russell is adamant that the result of tomorrow's clash between his club and league leaders North Village will have no bearing of the outcome of the league race come March.

Both teams are currently tied at the top of the ladder, with Village holding down the top spot courtesy of goal difference, and both will be looking for a victory knowing the winner in the showdown at Bernard Park will go top of the table uncontested.

For Russell, who has recently returned to his boyhood club, the main objective is three points rather trying to inflict psychological damage in the title race.

“It is a big game but everyone knows the importance of the game and both teams will come to play,” said Russell.

“The winner of the game doesn't necessarily have an advantage, maybe a psychological advantage but that's the most because it will bring the target closer to the team that does win.

“Teams will look to bring that much more to you when they play you so it is a slight disadvantage as well.”

PHC are the lone unbeaten team in the league and will undoubtedly be looking to leave Bernard Park with this record intact, something that Russell wants to become a reality.

The former Bermuda Hogges striker, who scored on debut for PHC against former club Dandy Town, admitted to the importance of the game and went as far as saying that the focal point of his season is to bring the title back to PHC this term, not personal goals by any player.

“It will be a good game, I expect nothing less than 100% from both sides.

I've played three games thus far, set up five goals and scored one but I'm not looking to get on the score sheet but rather help the team in any way possible.

“At the end of the day it is about the three points, not if I score or set up a goal.

“It feel good to be home and a blessing to put on the black and white jersey, growing up around the club everyone knows the importance of the jersey and the history.

“I'm back home, I'm looking to stay home and I believe I'm playing some of the best football I have played in quite a while so this is all good things to see at the moment.

“At the end of the day I'm trying to win something with my club, and that's the goal of every player.”

Elsewhere on the cards in Premier Division action, the Devonshire derby takes place at Devonshire Rec. with Cougars welcoming Colts to the 'Den', while St. David's travel to BAA Field to play Boulevard.

Defending champions Dandy Town, who are third, go to Southampton Oval to clash with Southampton Rangers as they look to keep pace with Village and PHC in the last weekend of league matches before the break over Christmas and New Year.
