Man detained after infant injured in fall

A Hamilton Parish man is on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of endangering the life of a child.

It follows an incident on Sunday in which both the 33-year-old man and his 7-month-old son were injured after falling from a second-storey window at a residence in Devon Springs Road, Devonshire.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin Weekes, police and first responders were dispatched at about 8.30pm to a reported domestic dispute between a couple. Both father and son were later taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment, where they remain.

The child’s mother was not injured.

A 42-year-old Smith’s man who intervened in the dispute was initially arrested, but has since been released.

Police are investigating the matter in collaboration with Child and Family Services, and encourage any witnesses that have not already come forward, as well as persons with relevant information, to call 247-1744.
