A new health and fitness centre — with a twist — is set to open up on Victoria Street.

Owned by fitness trainer Caroline Tee, Horizon Health will offer personal fitness training and group classes with a focus on corrective posture and functional exercise.

It will also operate its own organic cafe serving juices, smoothies and healthful fare, including vegan and gluten-free options, by local chefs including Ishmir Savory and Rebecca Haak.

Ms Tee, also an accomplished artist, said opening a fitness centre has been a longtime dream, for which she has been saving towards for some 20 years.

And a vacant former retail premises in Magnolia Place offered the perfect location, she said.

For one it’s in the EEZ, offering certain tax breaks, she said.

Also appealing was the fact it was street level with large glass windows allowing in lots of light — plus it was “loft-like” offering two floors.

“I knew what kind of space I wanted,” she said. “And this was it. I wanted to see out and have the outside coming in.”

Expected to open in another month, Horizon will offer personal training and independent work outs, rather than operate as a traditional gym offering memberships.

The centre will specialise in customised programmes with its team of trainers focused on motivating clients to achieve transformative results and keeping them challenged in their workouts.

Group classes will include yoga, Pilates, barre burn and more. The classes can be purchased per class drop-in or at a package rate.

Horizon will employ several fitness trainers including Severin Tucker (Pilates instructor), Johnny Debraga (personal trainer) and Liz Laing (barre teacher and personal trainer).
