Four teens were yesterday charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on a fellow student.Tijuan Swan, 16, Keanu Wilson, 17, Tishon Gordon, 17 and Kenneth Wade, 17, denied taking part in the beating of Raymond Crofton Jr on November 6.Magistrates’ Court was told the four accused have all been removed from CedarBridge Academy, where the brawl took place.A fifth person was also charged yesterday morning, in juvenile court.Crown counsel Susan Mulligan said the “brutal beating” — in which Mr Crofton’s jaw was broken in four places — occurred during lunch break. The court heard that the victim ran after he felt an initial blow to the head from a cane. He was then struck in the face.Noticing two others close to him, the victim tried to find safety, but was tripped and fell in the hallway, where he took blows to the body and kicks to the chin.He required emergency surgery for his injuries, Ms Mulligan added.Lawyer Craig Attridge represented Tishon, of Cove Valley Lane, St George’s; Marc Daniels assisted Tijuan, of Middle Town Road, Pembroke; Kenneth, from Redcoat Lane, St George’s, was represented by duty counsel Oonagh Vaucrosson. Keanu, of Silk Alley, St George’s, was represented by Rick Woolridge.Mr Vaucrosson said Keanu has been suspended from CedarBridge and has not been told when he can return. The others have been placed in alternative education.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned the matter until December 11.He released the four on $5,000 bail with one surety each. Each was ordered to wear electronic monitoring bracelets restricting them to their homes between 5pm and 8am except Tishon, who was allowed to remain out until 9pm to work as a supermarket packer.
