Woman tries to buy fake hair with stolen card
A Pembroke woman attempted to use a stolen credit card to buy seven bags of fake hair, Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.
The court heard that on February 26, a Smith’s resident returned home to discover that his television, DVD player and a Capital One credit card had been stolen, among other items.
Days later, he contacted police to tell them the stolen credit card had been used at Fadoo Hair and Wig Shop on King Street.
Officers attended the store and were told by staff that 22-year-old Vanessa Blyden and another woman had come to the store and attempted to use the card to purchase $670 of false hair.
Police later arrested Blyden at her Pembroke home under suspicion of burglary. When interviewed, Blyden admitted using the stolen card, but denied having stolen it.
Blyden yesterday pleaded guilty to one count of receiving stolen goods.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered a social inquiry report be carried out on the defendant, releasing her on $2,000 bail.
