A three-day conference aimed at middle schoolgirls gave the youngsters a crash course on personal and professional success.

The fourth annual She Leads Middle School Conference gathered 34 pupils from public and private schools on topics such as mental health, leadership, building healthy relationships and financial literacy.

The conference was an extension of BHS’s She Leads Real-World Readiness Programme, which ran over the summer on the school’s premises.

Attendees on March 30 attended Treehouse BDA on Trott Road, Hamilton to discuss mental health, public speaking and healthy relationships before practising yoga.

The following day, pupils had a workshop on empathetic leadership led by Stacey-Lee Williams of Curb before learning about financial literacy and participating in the “Worth It” workshop on self-worth and resilience.

On April 1, the conference started with a volunteering session led by Oral Barnett and Alexandria Williams of Home Bermuda.

The final day ended with guests viewing their self-expression projects that they created throughout the course.

Carol Swainson, Head of School, said: “It was a personal honour to support the investment programme, which gave our middle schoolers a concrete way to understand the power of patience and the importance of investing in themselves.”
