Several rights groups will participate in the Bermuda Human Rights Commission annual conference, which will take place on March 21 in Hamilton.

The conference, held under the theme of “What can I do? What can we do?” will be held at Pier Six on Front Street, the commission announced. It will run from 9am to 4.30pm.

Representatives from Bermuda is Love and Social Justice Bermuda will be among the participants at the event, the commission said.

A panel discussion will take place at the event, with input from several personalities.

Panellists include Justice Juan Wolffe, Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court; Arlene Brock, managing director of the Adult Education School; commission lawyer Arion Mapp; and Latisha Lister-Burgess, the executive director of the Employee Assistance Programme.

Lisa Reed, the executive officer of the commission, said: “This day-long event offers an interactive experience where attendees will consider their role in building a more inclusive and just society.

“Whether you’re a seasoned advocate or just starting your human rights journey, your voice matters,” she said.

The event will be opened by Professor Yesha Townsend.

According to Ms Reed, participants will engage in “thought-provoking conversations, and explore critical topics like inclusion, access and the individual’s role in upholding human rights.”

She said participants will also gain “valuable insights, address practical steps for action and build meaningful connections through conversations and hands on experience”.

The event is open to the public. More information is available at www.humanrights.bm.
