Golf society raises $5,725 for SPCA’s veterinary services
A golfing society has donated $5,725 for an animal shelter’s veterinary services following a fundraiser.
The donation from the Bermuda Senior Golfers’ Society to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will fund medical care for animals at the shelter and the wider community.
April Augustus, the SPCA’s executive director, said the organisation was “incredibly grateful” for the donation.
“Support like this allows us to continue meeting the growing needs we see across the community and ensures that help is available when it’s needed most,” she said. “It truly reflects the strength of a community that cares.”
The SPCA works with pet owners in need of veterinary assistance and offers spaying and neutering services, emergency medical treatment and urgent care.
It also provides care for injured and unattended animals found across the island, including those found on the roadside or who are in distress.
Miles Stephens, the president of the Bermuda Seniors Golfers’ Society: “We are proud to support the Bermuda SPCA and the important work they do across the island.
“It’s especially meaningful to know these funds will help not only animals in the shelter, but also members of the community who rely on the SPCA for support and care.”
According to an SPCA spokeswoman, the Bermuda branch spends more than $100,000 on veterinary care, which reflected the “growing need within the community” and “the organisation’s ongoing commitment to animal welfare”.
