With Thursday’s opening round postponed becasue of inclement weather, participants had their work cut out with the boys’ under-11 and 12-14 age groups playing 18 holes and the boys’ 15-19 a gruelling 36 yesterday.

After all was said and done, OJ Pitcher, the tournament director and Ocean View assistant professional, hailed the event as a success.

Pitcher also thanked those who contributed towards making the event successful.

“I’d like to thank sponsors Island Construction and Cobra/Puma, the organising committee for their assistance for making this event as professionally run as it possibly can be,” he added. ”The children really enjoyed themselves.

“Also a big shout-out to the maintenance team who did an excellent job in getting the course ready for this event. The course was in great condition due to them and we greatly appreciate their hard work and dedication.

“I also thank the parents for being there on the day to support the children, which is very important.

“I also have to thank Food Factory for being on board. They provided the lunch for all of the children who thoroughly enjoyed that.”
