Island goes seven days without a coronavirus case

The island yesterday notched up seven days without a coronavirus case.

A total of 1,210 test results came back to health officials and all were negative.

The number of active infections dropped to ten after seven people recovered.

They were the island’s lowest infection figures since February 24.

Only one patient in in hospital, but not in intensive care, and the other cases are being monitored by health officials.

The World Health Organisation country status remained at “community transmission”.

Kim Wilson, the health minister, warned that “time is running out” for anyone who wanted to get the Pfizer vaccine as the stocks will expire on June 30.

She added: “ This means the last, first dose can be given on June 8, which is just four days away.”

Anyone who wants to get both Pfizer doses should register at gov.bm or attend the walk-ins at Bermuda College, the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital or the close to home mobile vaccination sites, one of which will be set up on tomorrow at Victor Scott Primary School in Pembroke.

The school clinic will be open from 10am to 2pm.

A clinic will also operate next Tuesday at Penno’s Wharf in St George’s and next Thursday at the Fairmont Southampton.

No appointments are needed.

Anyone who needs a ride to or from the mobile vaccination sites can call 533-5903 between 10am and 1.30pm to book the minibus service.

A “jab and jam” with music, entertainment and giveaways will be held on Saturday at the Bermuda College vaccination centre from 10am to 6pm.

The college vaccination centre will be open next Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 1pm.

The hospital vaccination centre is open tomorrow and Sunday for walk-ins from 8am to 6pm, and for scheduled appointments from 8am to 8pm.

It will also be open next Monday and Tuesday for walk-ins and scheduled appointments are available from 8am to 8pm.
