Cruise ship season heats up

Vessel Liberty Eagle briefly stopped within Bermuda waters on Sunday to drop off a passenger who required medical attention.

That person's medical details were unknown yesterday.

Meanwhile, the cruise ship season is heating up as Carnaval Miracle sailed in to our shores on Saturday at 1.45 p.m. with 2,492 passengers.

She sailed out at 5 p.m. on Sunday, headed for Newport, Rhode Island.

Norwegian Majesty arrived at 4 p.m. on Monday with 1,500 passengers, at Ordinance Island in St. George's.

She is scheduled to depart the Island tomorrow at 11.30 a.m. for its Charleston, South Carolina hub.

Yesterday, Holland America Cruise Line vessel Amsterdam arrived within our shores and anchored at Grassy Bay due to a shortage of space at King's Wharf in Dockyard.

She sailed out yesterday at 4 p.m. headed back to New York.

Explorer of the Seas pulled in to the Island yesterday with 3,626 passengers at 8.30 a.m. and docked at King's Wharf in Dockyard. She will sail out today at 5 p.m.

Norwegian Dawn will also anchor at Grassy Bay for two days before shifting to Dockyard where she will remain until Friday at 4 p.m.

She will sail back to New York. There were no passenger counts available.

Tomorrow, regular caller Grandeur of the Seas is expected in at Dockyard at 9 a.m. and will sail out later at 4 p.m. to return to Baltimore.

There were no passenger counts for this cruise ship.

On Friday at 8 a.m., Seven Seas Mariner will berth on the Island before departing on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Also, Explorer of the Seas is expected to return on Sunday at 9 a.m. before heading out in the afternoon.

The Royal Gazette understands Explorer of the Seas will have a motorcycle club onboard that will be allowed to ride their motorcycles around the Island as they did last year.

Meanwhile, Somers Isle returned to Bermuda yesterday morning with 155 containers which included five refrigerated ones and one "tool".

Bermuda Islander is expected back with its cargo tomorrow at 8 a.m. before turning around on Friday at 8 a.m.

She will be bringing 125 containers, including 23 refrigerated ones and two 45-foot trailers.

Vessel BBC Norland came in on Monday afternoon for repairs. It is unclear when she will be sailing out.

BCL freighter Oleander brought 123 dry containers over the weekend as well as 44 refrigerated ones after arriving from Port Elizabeth New Jersey.

Plus, she had miscellaneous cargo consisting of four road trailers, 36 cars, one boat on a trailer and one generator on a trailer.

She sailed from Bermuda yesterday.
