Heavy rain causes havoc
three inches of rain fell in just a few hours.
People struggled to get home from work as the rain flooded roads and in one place the rain apparently caused a car to breakdown, forcing police to set up diversions.
The Police also dealt with a spate of minor accidents across Bermuda, with two people suffering slight injuries and directed emergency calls about flooding to the Fire Service.
Travellers heading along Palmetto Road faced diversions because a car had broken down. Dundonald Street, in Hamilton, was also flooded and parts of Front Street also suffered some floods.
In the worst flooding, the Fire Service was called to a house in Devonshire which had four feet of water in its basement, threatening a circuit board. In all, the service dealt with more than 30 calls.
A spokesman said: "The calls ranged from one inch of water in a house to four feet. It was an extremely busy time, with calls starting to come in from about 5.15 p.m.'' According to the Bermuda Weather Service 2.7 inches of rain fell in about eight hours. The average rainfall for the whole of June is 5.1 inches.
However, better news is on the horizon with the forecast for today showing mostly sunny spells with just a chance of showers. Sunday should see mainly sun.
A spokesman for the Weather Service said the bad weather had come from the south east of the United States and Bermuda had borne the brunt of the rain and winds.
