Majesty back on schedule after grounding off US

For unknown reasons the cruise ship ran aground 10 miles off Nantucket Island near Boston last Saturday after leaving Bermuda on her way back to Boston. She was unable to return to the Island this week for her scheduled Tuesday-Friday cruise due to official investigations into the incident taking place.

The cancellation of the trip reportedly cost the local economy more than $250,000.

John S. Darrell confirmed yesterday that the Majesty Cruise Line ship would be back in St. George's next week.

Darrell reported Tuesday's arrival of the Song of America which carried 1,397 passengers. She departs tomorrow.

Meyer Agencies reported the arrival the cruise ship Horizon which berthed in Hamilton. She brought 1,350 passengers to the Island and shifted to St.

George's this morning. She sails this afternoon for New York.

The Dreamward arrived on Monday morning carrying 1,274 passengers. She berthed at Penno's Wharf in St. George's and shifted to Hamilton on Tuesday. She sails this afternoon.

The cruise ship Meridian arrived on Tuesday carrying 1,045 passengers. She berthed at Kings Wharf in Dockyard. She carried 1,045 passengers, and sails tomorrow afternoon.

In container ship news, Meyer Agencies reported Sunday's arrival of the Somers Isles from Fernandino Beach, Florida.

She carried a total of 84 containers 10 of which were refrigerated.

She berthed in Hamilton and also discharged six boats, two trucks, and six bundles of steel.

The vessel sailed on Sunday evening.

Also arriving last Sunday was the Strong Cajun which berthed at Marginal Wharf.

Sixty-four 40-foot containers were loaded on to the ship from the US Base.

She came from the Azores and is bound for Norfolk, Virginia. She sailed the same day.

The Bermuda Islander which arrived a day earlier on Monday, discharged a total of 82 containers five of which were refrigerated.

One of the containers included a horse box with four horses. She sailed Tuesday morning.

Container Ship Management reported Sunday's arrival of the Oleander which carried 142 dry containers and 40 refrigerated. She also discharged one 40-foot mafi with general cargo, three large fire trucks for the Bermuda airport, three road trailers of steel, four cars, and one nitrogen cylinder.

She departed on Tuesday morning.

The high-powered ferry boat Condor 9 , which is a British flag from Tortola, also arrived in Bermuda on Monday berthing in Dockyard.

She took on fuel and had minor repairs before heading on to Guernsey in the Channel Islands on Tuesday morning.

John S. Darrell also reported Tuesday's arrival of Belgian Navy sailing vessel Zenobe Gramme which came for fuel and water.

She berthed at Ordnance Island before shifting to Hamilton on Thursday afternoon. She departs this weekend.

The Propane tanker Emsgaf also arrived on Tuesday to discharge propane at the Esso pier in St. George's.
