Ninth road fatality recorded
Bermuda?s roads claimed their third life in as many weeks with a fatal accident in Warwick yesterday morning.
Police received a report of a serious collision on Middle Road, near the junction with Adams Lane at around 8.30 a.m. A spokesman said: ?It appears that the motorcycle was travelling east on Middle Road when the rider, a 46-year-old Pembroke man, lost control and collided with an embankment on the left side of the road.
?The victim was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and subsequently pronounced dead at 8:47 a.m. by an on-call physician at the hospital.?
Traffic was diverted around the scene for around two hours. The Police said no further information on the victim would be released until his next-of-kin had been notified.
The death brings the total number of people killed in road crashes this year to nine. The most recent fatalities are those of Albert Wayne Peets, 51, of Smith?s, who died on August 15 after his motorcycle was in collision with a car on North Shore Road in Devonshire and Akil Williams, 24, who died on August 28 after his motorcycle left the road in Parsons Lane, Pembroke on August 26.
