Selley seeks lesser role in annual Christmas party
Yesterday's 31st annual party for special-needs children will be the last one for organiser Mark Selley.
Mr. Selley said the party at Ozone Night Club yesterday afternoon went very well except only half the normal amount of children participated due to transport problems.
"I am hoping the Pembroke Rotary will take it over next year," Mr. Selley said last night. "I am going to stay involved, but I am going to bail out of organising it.
"Usually we have 300, but this year we had 150 children," he said. "We fed them gave them bags of candy and a hearty lunch." Bagpipes kept a throng of excited children away from Santa Claus when an elevator leading up to Ozone broke down, he said.
"The bagpipes were the only thing keeping them from attacking him," he said. "It was a very long song."
Children were also kept entertained by Christmas disco music and Santa's arrival on a red fire truck.
