Police probe break-ins

At approximately noon on Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a break-in at a Hillsdale Avenue, Pembroke residence where the victim had returned home to find a young man leaving through a side door.

The owner said he chased the young man, but the culprit was able to escape along Happy Valley Road and a Police search of the area turned up nothing.

The young man is described as being slim with medium brown skin and short "corn-curled'' hair plus a goatee. Meanwhile a Devonshire club was targeted by a thief who stole several kinds of beer and a variety of liquor from its bar. A club spokesman said the bar was forcibly entered at some point between 2 p.m. on October 17 and 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

And a couple staying at a St. George's establishment on Tuesday night were also the victims of a break-in. The man said he was watching television in the front room with his wife and another couple until around 11 p.m. at which time he went into the bedroom.

There he found that his wallet and his wife's handbag had been removed along with the credit cards, various pieces of identification and cash they contained.

Police are also investigating the alleged deliberate damage caused to a parked car on Tuesday. The owner said he parked his car at 6 p.m. outside the Waterlot Inn in Southampton and went to work only to return at about 10 p.m.

The paint in these areas was extensively damaged and the base metal underneath was left exposed.
