The inauguration of US President Barack Obama was attended by distinguished guests from around the world this week — and a delegation from CedarBridge Academy.Students of American history from years S3 and S4 were eligible for the trip, which required them to brave the chill at Washington DC’s American Mall at 4.30am to get a spot.“We camped out in the dark,” said CedarBridge deputy principal Anthony Wade, who supplied photos to The Royal Gazette.Mr Wade attended President Obama’s 2009 inauguration, and recalled conditions this time around as “nicer”.“Last time the temperature was down in the low 20s,” he said. “This time it was in the low 40s.”He likened the atmosphere to the crowds of spectators for the May 24 parade back home.“It was almost like Bermuda Day in January, the way we waited on the sidewalk,” he said.Over two million packed the Mall the first time around four years ago; this time there was a little more breathing room.“This was only 1.2 million,” Mr Wade said.
