Technical difficulties on a US Naval aircraft caused emergency vehicles to gather at LF Wade International Airport yesterday.According to a spokesman, the airport duty officer was informed shortly after 3pm that a P3 aircraft travelling from Jacksonville Air Force Base to the Azores had encountered engine trouble.“The aircraft had lost power in the number four engine, and they had approximately six hours of fuel left,“ the spokesman said. “There were 14 souls on board.”As a result, ambulance and fire workers attended the airport as a safely precaution, while police officers conducted traffic control at the Causeway and St David’s Gate.Three commercial flights; US Airways flights 1424 and 1298 and Delta flight 438, were delayed in order to allow the aircraft to land.At around 4.05pm, the aircraft safely landed at the airport.
