Corbishley in temporary accommodation
Stephen Corbishley, the Commissioner of Police, will live with his family in temporary accommodation until next month, the Bermuda Government said last night.
A government spokeswoman said: “To provide some clarity regarding recent media reports, in accordance with the Government's overseas recruitment protocols, the Commissioner of Police is eligible for accommodation/housing.”
She was speaking after online news site Bermuda Real reported that the commissioner was living in “a local hotel” with his wife and family.
The spokeswoman said the costs of housing for the commissioner were approved in the 2018-19 Budget, which also included travel costs for an officer's spouse and children.
She declined to give the cost of temporary accommodation or say if the family had turned down an offered house.
Mr Corbishley was sworn in at the start of last month.
The spokeswoman said: “The Government can confirm that the commissioner will be moving to permanent accommodations during the first week of October.”
