Mayor in the run-up to the town's November 4 Corporation elections.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Royal Gazette , Henry Hayward pegged Lois Perinchief as the person he'd entrust with the old town's ambitious renaissance.

"She's already come out for the post and she's been around as long as I have; no one is more familiar with the municipality than her,'' said Mr. Hayward.

Mrs. Perinchief, now retired, is a well-known St. George's retailer with long-time service on the Corporation.

Other names touted as possible candidates for the Mayor's office include Government Senator and St. George's Alderwoman Noela Haycock, and Alderman Terry Roberts, although both were unavailable for comment yesterday.

Meanwhile, E. Michael Jones has said he'll be seeking re-election for his third term as Common Councillor.

"I think it's important to have an intact team at this point, and I'm willing to work with whoever wins the election,'' he said.
