Fundraiser launched for shooting victim’s funeral
A fundraising campaign has been launched to cover the funeral expenses of a mother of two who was fatally shot at her beauty salon in the Court Street area this month.
An account to support the family of Janae Minors was set up on the G-Pass platform by the CedarBridge Academy graduating Class of 2006.
Ms Minors was shot in her shop, Beauty Monster, at the corner of Court Street and Dundonald Street at about 4.45pm on September 16.
The fundraiser will also assist her loved ones “during this painful time”, the appeal said.
A post highlighting the campaign said that Ms Minors’s life was tragically taken owing to a “senseless act of violence”.
The appeal added: “Janae was a genuine soul, a vibrant light and a true gem to everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
“Her infectious laugh and radiant smile could brighten even the darkest day. To know Janae was to love her.
“She had a special gift for making people feel seen and cherished — whether it was through a nickname she gave you or a unique greeting that only the two of you shared.
“A shining example of confidence and grace, Janae was the proud owner of the Beauty Monster accessory shop.”
Ms Minors poured her passion into helping others feel beautiful and empowered, her former CedarBridge classmates said in the appeal.
“It is hard to think of a moment when she wasn’t smiling,” the appeal added.
Anyone with information on the fatal shooting has been asked to call the serious crime unit on 247-1739, Chief Inspector Derricka Burns on 717-0921 or to e-mail Ms Burns at dburns@bps.bm.
