Mangrove Bay Post Office on track to open in May
A West End post office is expected to reopen in May after refurbishments and restocking supplies, the Government said today.
Construction of the Mangrove Bay Post Office is expected to conclude in late March, after which time operational requirements such as restocked postal supplies and equipment installation will be carried out.
Diallo Rabain, the Minister for the Cabinet Office and Digital Innovation, said the renovation work was both “on schedule and on budget”.
He added: “The Government is proud to continue its path in investing in critical infrastructure throughout the island.
“We remain committed to the timely delivery of this project and will continue to monitor its progress to ensure completion within budget, scope and quality standards.”
The Mangrove Bay Post Office was closed last September for “essential renovations” to improve the building’s safety conditions.
The Bermuda Post Office’s original statement said the construction would be completed in March.
However, the Ministry for the Cabinet Office and Digital Innovation clarified today that, while construct was on schedule, reopening would happen later.
The renovations are expected to improve airflow, level the floor and refresh interior finishes.
Mail addressed to Mangrove Bay post boxes will continue to be directed to the Southampton Post Office for customer collection.
Warwick Post Office will continue to temporarily manage parcel deliveries typically carried out at Mangrove Bay.
Regular mail delivery to all district residents will continue without interruption.
