A diverse range of subjects from across Bermuda’s creative, professional, academic and advocacy communities will be presented at the 37th edition of PechaKucha Bermuda on Friday.

The popular event, which follows the format of speakers showing 20 slides on their area of interest or expertise, for 20 seconds each, is scheduled to take place at Blue Waters Anglers Club on East Broadway in Pembroke.

A spokeswoman for the event said: “PechaKucha Bermuda is part of a global storytelling movement founded in Tokyo in 2003 and has been hosting events in Bermuda since 2012.

“The platform creates space for diverse voices, bold ideas and meaningful community dialogue.”

Stacey-Lee Williams, the executive director of Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda, will present a Bermuda-focused talk examining how dominant narratives are formed and how alternative perspectives often reveal a fuller picture of shared history.

Anil Chatergoon returns to the PechaKucha stage to explore tarot, examining its connections to astrology and the elements while making the case that symbolic systems can offer practical guidance for decision-making, reflection and personal growth.

Natalie Sannemalm will share reflections on authoring, illustrating and self-publishing, including of her book Nurture Your Garden.

Kathia Roberts is to explore sound as “the original creative force”. Dr Roberts’s work weaves anthropology, Egyptian mythology and shamanic practice.

Dileri Sadhana will draw from her six years of living in Asia and immersion in Tantra philosophy, movement and breath work.

Finally, Jeron Gunness will speak on how he discovered martial arts as a teenager and how Muay Thai became a powerful outlet for channelling emotions in a positive and disciplined way.

A cash bar will be available, with proceeds supporting Blue Waters Anglers Club’s youth fishing programmes and initiatives.

Admission is free though donations are welcome to help offset event costs, support the club and to ensure the continuation of the free community event series. Doors open at 6.30pm and talks begin at 7pm.
