Rayan Cherki perfect for double gameweek
There is a double gameweek for Fantasy League managers to get their teeth stuck into with Brighton, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Leeds, Burnley and Manchester City all playing twice.
Manchester City face a tough first match of the week at home to Arsenal, but with their second game coming against Burnley, Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku make plenty of appeal as they could also be the difference makers in the crucial game at the top of the table. Erling Haaland would normally be a banker for in a double gameweek but he has cored just 3 goals in 13 matches.
For the purposes of this preview, we will only be focusing on the first set of matches, which takes us up to the game between Crystal Palace and West Ham on Monday afternoon.
Saturday
Brentford v Fulham (8.30am)
Brentford are still in the hunt for a Champions League spot, with England guaranteed at least five spots in Europe’s premier competition. A lot of that is down to forward Igor Thiago, who has scored 166 points and 31 in the past five games
Fulham’s form is starting to taper off and Harry Wilson is not quite in the same form he was a couple of months ago.
Prediction: 2-0
Leeds United v Wolverhampton Wanderers (11am)
Anybody who took the advice last week to start loading your team with Leeds players in advance of this double matchweek could well be sitting pretty after the away win at Manchester United. They have conceded only three goals in five games and this looks an ideal game for goalkeepers and defenders to keep clean sheets. Joe Rodon, Anton Stach and Daniel James are injured
Prediction: 2-0
Newcastle United v Bournemouth (11am)
It will be interesting to see hoe the Bournemouth players react to the news that head coach Andoni Iraola is leaving at the end of the season. Midfielder Marcus Tavernier could be worth considering as he has had 16 shots and three big chances in his past five matches.
Newcastle are on course to finish in the bottom eight, which will bring pressure on to coach Eddie Howe’s shoulders. He will have selection problems in midfield with Bruno Guimaraes out injured and Joelinton suspend after picking up ten yellow cards.
Prediction: 1-1
Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton & Hove Albion (11am)
It is getting close to do or die for Tottenham, who entered the relegation zone before their defeat against Sunderland last week. In that game they suffered another blow, losing Cristian Romero for the rest of the season through injury.
For those of you fancying another Tottenham defeat, Brighton’s Diego Gomez is worth a chance. He’s scored twice and provided one assist while picking up 36 points in his past six matches.
Prediction: 1-1
Chelsea v Manchester United (4pm)
Chelsea have won just one of their past seven Premier League matches and are now fighting for a place in the Champions League. Enzo Fernandez will return to the side after being dropped for comments he made in the media. Liam Rosenior’s side have also not scored in three league matches.
Manchester United will be without defenders Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez through suspension. Casemiro has scored three goals in his last four games.
Prediction 1-1
Aston Villa v Sunderland (10am)
Sunderland have won their last four league games and have conceded just once in those matches.
Villa have won just three of their last ten league games and the squad could well be feeling the effects of a deep run in the Europa League. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is struggling with injury.
Prediction: 2-1
Everton v Liverpool (10am)
The first Merseyside derby at Everton’s new ground will likely be a raucous occasion and the home side is still in with a chance of European qualification. Midfielder James Garner is one of the division’s most underrated players and is racking up the points with 23 points in four games.
Liverpool have been dealt a blow with the news that Hugo Ekitike will miss the rest of the season. Mohamed Salah has two goals in four games and would love to sign off from this fixture with a goal.
Prediction: 1-1
Nottingham Forest v Burnley (10am)
Forest are presented with a huge chance to move further clear of the relegation zone. Defender Neco Williams has two assists and a goal in his last couple of matches while midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White remains in good form.
Burnley play twice this week but their lack of form makes it difficult to select any of their players.
Prediction: 2-0
Manchester City v Arsenal (12.30pm)
A crucial game at the top of the table and a must-win for Manchester City. An injury to defender Nico O’Reilly is a blow but Cherki is in good form and only Bruno Fernandes has more assists than him in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal are in a worrying run and despite making it through to the Champions League final, the 0-0 draw in the second leg against Sporting did not inspire confidence that they will pull out of the slump. Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Sako are likely to again be missing.
Prediction: 1-0
Monday
Crystal Palace v West Ham United (4pm)
West Ham are in the top seven when it comes to league form in the past ten games. Jarrod Bowen continues to pick up points and has 33 in the last five games. Defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has three goals in his past two games.
Crystal Palace forward Jean-Phillipe Mateta has returned from injury and scored twice against Newcastle last week. He also has five goals in his past four matches against West Ham
Prediction: 1-1
