Sprinter Pria Wilson is thrilled after closing off her school track season by winning the girls 1,600 metres sprint medley relay with IMG Academy’s elite team at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon.

The 16-year-old Bermudian started things off by running the 200 leg of the relay, with her team finishing the race in 4min 06.28sec.

“I’m incredibly proud of our relay team for winning the sprint medley relay at Nike nationals, a great meet,” Wilson told The Royal Gazette.

“We all worked hard, trusted each other and gave everything we had. I am so grateful I got to start off this relay and put my team in a good place.

“It made the victory even more special to achieve it together on the beautiful track at Hayward Field. This is a memory we’ll never forget.”

In April, Wilson bagged three gold medals and set personal bests in the 100 and 200 metres at the IMG Academy Invitational in Florida.

Wilson, who represented Bermuda at the 2023 and 2024 Carifta Games, is most likely to be part of the island’s team for the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association Under-18 & Under-23 Championships, scheduled for July 10-12 in Tlaxcala, Mexico.
