Matthew Oliveira ended his season on top of the standings after picking up another win in the Madison Digicel Criterium.

Oliveira, who has dominated the local race scene this year, comfortably topped the Adult A table, with Dave Mccomas second and Kaden Hopkins third.

Hopkins and Oliveira also took charge yesterday, leading from the off with Hopkins jumping out to a quick lead.

The Winners Edge rider was quickly joined by Oliveira, his team-mate, a pairing the chasing peloton could not catch.

Though Hopkins faltered midway through the race, leaving Oliveira to continue at the front on his own, he held on for second place, with Darren Glasford third.

In the B race, Adam Kirk, the series leader and eventual winner, jumped off the front with just a few laps to go and held off the effort of the peloton, securing yet another victory and the season prize.

Otis Ingham, Kirk’s Winners Edge team-mate, took the sprint for second and Clifford Roberts, riding for Bicycle Works, rounded out the podium.

Ziani Burgesson, Team Tokio’s junior rider, took a strong win in the C category where the final run into the line was a head-to-head battle between Burgesson and Paulo Medeiros of Winners Edge.

The fourteen-year-old Burgesson showed great determination in leading out the sprint from the final corner and then holding off a hard-charging Medeiros.

The final spot went to Garth Fleming who took the points series title ahead of Medeiros and Burgesson.

Rose-Anna Hoey continued to show her strength in cycling by taking the women’s race ahead of her Madison-Digicel team-mate Sarah Bonnet. Wenda Roberts edged out Tristan Narraway for third place and finished the series in second behind Bonnett with Narraway in third.
