Two motorcycle riders have been injured, with one believed more seriously hurt than the other, in an apparent collision this afternoon in Pembroke.

Spurling Hill was closed to traffic, with vehicles leaving Hamilton from the Reid Street extension being directed on to Cavendish Road.

According to police, a motorcycle and a 50cc scooter appear to have collided at about 1.25pm at the junction with Crow Lane at the foot of Spurling Hill.

Police, ambulance and Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded.

Medical updates on both injured riders are expected.

Traffic was reduced to a one-way system at the junction as police worked on the scene for 2½ hours.

Witnesses are asked to call 211, to speak with a police officer they know, or use the BPS online community reporting portal.

The busy intersection has been highlighted by the public as a danger spot for near misses.

A motorcycle and car collided in November 2022, resulting in serious injury to the rider as his vehicle headed out of the city.

The junction has also had pedestrians injured attempting to cross and was the scene of a fatal crash in 1996.
