Bradford City striker Nahki Wells came on as a second half sub in the Bantams 1-1 home draw with Dagenham and Redbridge at Valley Parade last night. The Bermuda international joined the fray in the 66th minute after replacing midfielder Garry Thompson.Beaten League Cup finalists Bradford enjoyed the lion’s share of possession but in the end were forced to come from behind and settle for a share of the spoils. The visitors were awarded a penalty in the in the 47th minute after Bantams midfielder Kyel Reid fouled Dagenham defender Luke Wilkinson in the box.But they failed to capitalise as striker Sam Williams placed his spotkick wide of the target.Williams, though, made amends in the 69th minute when he assisted in midfielder Luke Howell’s goal from the edge of the area that broke the deadlock. However, Bantams substitute striker James Hanson equalised in the 86th minute from close range to earn his team a vital point.Earlier this week Wells became only the third Bermudian to play at Wembley and the first at the new stadium during Bradford’s 5-0 loss to Swansea in the League Cup Final. With the League Cup now behind them, Wells and his Bradford teammates will look to get their promotion hopes back on track. The Bantams are currently 12th in the League Two standings, some ten-points shy of the fourth and final promotion playoff spot.“Now that Wembley is out of the way it’s a lot easier to focus on what we set out to achieve at the beginning of the season which is promotion,” Wells told The Royal Gazette. “The League Cup run has been a distraction to our league focus but that comes with the nature of the competition.“No one would throw away the moments we had in the cup but it’s time to set our focus on what we set out to achieve from the beginning which is promotion. We have a few games in hand and there’s no distractions or excuses and we are going all out to get back to Wembley in May.“That’s all of our focus and after playing there it just gives you that incentive to get back.”
