A seaside dining experience that features sharing platters and bean bags on the South Shore was introduced to entice people away from the buzz of the city at the start of the weekend.

The Hamilton Princess and Beach Club launched Lazy Fridays at its Sinky Bay location in Southampton where guests do not even need to task themselves with making a decision on what to order.

Instead, meze platters for two are delivered to the tables, some of which are just a few feet from the waves and are accompanied by bean bags instead of traditional dining chairs.

Jan-Peer Lehfeldt, the director of food and beverage, explained: “Lazy Fridays was introduced to offer a casual, feet-in-the-sand Friday evening experience.

“It’s the perfect setting in which to dine and socialise, while drinking in Bermuda’s beauty.”

Diners might enjoy classic gazpacho — a chilled tomato soup — before a series of packed platters that are designed for two people to enjoy along with a bottle of rosé included in the $150 price tag.

Mr Lehfeldt explained: “It is a meze style dining experience over three courses.

“This means sharing bowls of diverse and delicious Mediterranean and Arabic flavours with an island twist.”

Although there may be a little variation in the dishes, diners can usually expect a beetroot hummus, a quinoa tabbouleh and a smoked wahoo brandade, which is made with whipped potato, olive oil and roasted garlic.

Shrimp and meat skewers feature on the second platter as well as pickled vegetables, octopus and stewed beans.

Marinated watermelon and coconut panna cotta provide a refreshing conclusion to the hassle-free offerings.

Diners are also invited to gather around the bonfire where they can toast marshmallows and sandwich them with graham crackers and chocolate to make s’mores.

Mr Lehfeldt said that DJ Keem plays background tunes to “further enhance the overall experience”.

He added: “We think this is a great fit for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Hamilton on a Friday evening and escape into a relaxed beach experience.

“It caters perfectly for families as children can make use of the playgrounds while the parents enjoying a sip of rosé wine.”
