Neon appoints two directors

Tom Hulst: new Neon non-executive director

Insurer Neon has appointed two industry veterans as non-executive directors of its Bermuda arm.

Tom Hulst, who more than 20 years’ experience in insurance and reinsurance, most recently as CEO of Ariel Re, and Gavin Hunter, who most recently was chairman and president of BenchStrength International, a specialist insurance and reinsurance consulting company, will both join the board.

Mr Hunter has more than 30 years of experience in the sector.

Martin Reith, CEO of Neon, said: “Following the successful launch of Neon’s Bermuda office earlier this year, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Tom and Gavin to the board.

“They are both highly credible individuals and bring extensive experience of leading and growing successful businesses in Bermuda.

“I look forward to their strategic guidance and working with them as we continue to drive Neon’s international expansion in 2017 and beyond.”

Neon, a global insurer operating in the Lloyd’s of London market, opened a Bermuda office in Hamilton’s Victoria Street in June.

The firm had taken on four Bermudian staff by October and said it was committed to hiring further local talent as the company expanded its operations on the island.
